Literacy Day

The weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Kirkcaldy was held at the Dean Park Hotel on Tuesday 13^th March. There were 31 Members in attendance.

Presidents business included mention that the tree planting at Beveridge park has been postponed. PP Tony had visited Leven Rotary Club and brought their greetings back to the club, as well as some useful tips on how Club Administration needs to adapt to meet the new data protection laws.  PP Iain Gow had attended the Young Musician District 1010 final in Perth and he remarked how talented the participants were, the regional final will be held at the conservatoire in Glasgow on 22^nd April. Debu Ghosh recounted tales from his recent 2 month holiday in India.

Secretary Swapan referred to the e mails he had sent out earlier in the day and also mentioned that on the 23^rd June there would be a fellowship Barbeque, venue to be confirmed but most likely at Zahid’s house.

As it was world Literacy day PP Iain Gow had organised a day of witty poems. With Iain acting as MC and himself recounting some apt and amusing poems he proceeded to invite three Rotarians to read their poems. Ian Brown opted to follow his profession and managed to find two witty poems about Doctors, one of which was written by a Doctor from Fife, so all in all very fitting. PP Bryan brought us what was certainly an unusual trip to the zoo, and finally Ron McGill threatened to read out all 100 from his book of 100 poems but luckily settled for just one. The theme was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
