Although Pickering & District Rotary Club is now a fairly informal organisation, we do enjoy getting our glad rags out once a year to celebrate with a formal 'President's Night' dinner.
This event recognises that another year of service, fun and fellowship has passed, and the theme for the evening is normally linked to the hobbies or employment of the current president of the club.
While the evening might be quite formal in some ways, there is also a strong fun side to it... with lots of send ups and in jokes... usually at the president's expense.
This year's president, John Flintoft is our local ironmonger and locksmith, and he's also a keen table tennis player, so the evening was built around those activities.
Like a certain other president across the pond, John likes to do a good 'deal'... but count your fingers afterwards!
We also discovered that he likes a cheese sandwich and a strong cup of coffee for his supper, so, naturally, that's what we provided to round off the night.
